Today, I am going to talk a little bit about Google AMP and will show you how to setup these pages for your website. Then I will show you how you can configure your google amp with just a free plugin and making it more attractive and fast.
Before jumping to guide, I would clear all things like what is an accelerated mobile page and what are its benefits.
What is Google AMP?
First of all lets know that what is Google amp. Basically Google AMP is a new initiative introduced by google. It is aimed at making every website load faster and making it mobile friendly. This brings a new coding language AMP HTML which works by restricting code and increasing site loading speed and reliability. It makes page load upto 85% faster.
In this version, Google doesn’t shows the real view of your website but show a minimalist version that looks insane great. You can see below image for how it lookes like:
Google also gives a special mark to sites with amp in google searches and make a chance for showing post in top of the page as you can see below:
The most important thing is it doesn’t decrease your site’s ranking and increases chances of getting more traffic.
Benefits Of Google AMP
1. The first and most important benefit of implementing it is it increases websites load time with lighting speed. AMP decreases chances of your website getting abandoned.
2. Mobile load time and website speed also have effect on site’s ranking. Since it increases speed, also helps in getting good rank.
3. Google shows an AMP symbol in search results for websites with amp. So users will go to such websiye for fast work.
4. It also supports ads.
5. These days publishers pay a lot of attention on visitors behaviour. AMP helps in this by giving details of visitors, clicks etc.
So these are benefits of setting amp for any website. So now lets move to guide for implementing this.
How To Set Up Google AMP For WordPress
As you all know WordPress is the biggest platform for blogs and websites in world. It makes all things easy with plugins. Implementing AMP is not a big task because of official plugin from Automattic. But it doesn’t have options for configuring pages. So you will have to install another plugin, we will share guide for that too. First of alpl, I will show you how to set up amp simply. Then we will talk of configuring it.
1. First of all install a plugin for this. Click on below link for downloading the official plugin.
2. Login to your website’s dashboard and click on Add New Plugins from menu.
3. Click on Upload Plugin from top of page.
4. Click on choose file and upload plugin you downloaded in first step. Install and activate the plugin.
Done! As soon as you activate plugin, amp versions of page will be added. Since Google show AMP only in time of slow network, you will not see amp. To check amp is working propperly you need to add /amp to end of any url of your blog.
Note: AMP doesn’t work directly for homepage, so visit url of any of your post. Example: www.example.com/post url/amp

You also don’t need to worry for content issues. The plugin adds a rel=’canonical’ tag automatically. So Google knows that content isn’t duplicated. In the next post we will talk about configuring AMP pages and making them attractive.
